Truth

Living a life that isn't true to who you are can ultimately lead to your downfall. It's like a drug that might provide a temporary high, but in the end, it will destroy everything you've worked hard for. When you aren't living according to your own morals and values, you can squander your life progress and lose the trust and respect of those around you, including close friends and people who care about you. I personally know about being someone who you believe people want you to be and not who you truly are first hand, I moved a lot a kid and I never really got the opportunity to truly make real friends, and those that I did consider to be my friends I wore a mask for so they never truly got to know the real me. I was terrified that if they saw my truth that they wouldn’t want to be my friend anymore or that they would judge me because I wasn’t who I pretended to be. So, wherever I went I became whoever I needed to be to get all the attention and “friendship” I thought being who they wanted me to be would get me. I made horrible choices but in the end I got the attention I wanted by being someone I wasn’t so there was no incentive to change. It took looking myself in the mirror and being fully honest and transparent with myself after my mother passed to realize that I couldn’t make it though this life being someone I am not. My mom always used to say “Serg be yourself, everyone else is taken.” I hated when she said that because she would call me out on being someone other than who she knew me to be and in retrospect I am glad someone always knew who I could be if I only allowed myself to “Be Myself”.

When you're not being true to yourself, it's easy to become selfish and make decisions that benefit you in the moment, without considering the long-term consequences. You might put your own desires and needs before those of others, which can lead to feelings of guilt and shame. In turn, this can cause you to become more isolated, as people may start to distance themselves from you if they feel you're not living according to your own values or you’re not dependable.

However, the good news is that it's never too late to turn things around. With honesty and determination, you can re-establish the life you desire. By acknowledging your mistakes and taking responsibility for your actions, you can start rebuilding the trust and respect of those around you.

It's important to take time to reflect on what's truly important to you and what you want out of life. Consider your values, beliefs, and goals, and start making decisions that align with these things. It might not be easy, and it might require you to make some tough choices, or lose people you truly care for or connections but in the end, it will be worth it.

As you start to live according to your own values, you may find that your relationships with others start to improve. You'll be able to form more meaningful connections with those around you, as they'll be able to see that you're living authentically and with integrity.

(TLDR) being true to yourself is essential to living a fulfilling life. When you're not living according to your own values and morals, you risk losing everything you've worked hard for. However, with honesty and determination, you can turn things around and start living the life you desire. By making choices that align with your values and goals, you'll be able to build deeper connections with those around you and live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
